The Town of Cornwall is currently undergoing a town-wide reassessment of all real property.

Tyler Technologies, the firm that has been hired to assist in performing this task, will be working in the field to conduct a final review of properties for the purpose of valuation. Tyler’s staff will complete this review primarily from the roadway, though in some instances the reviewer may be required to drive on private roads or long driveways when properties are not visible from the road. There will be no action required for property owners.

After the final review is completed, Assessment Disclosure Notices will be sent to all property owners so they may review their updated value.

Additionally, the Town will be holding a public meeting to further explain the notice prior to them being sent to property owners.

Supervisor Randazzo has been in contact with a representative of the State Health Department regarding the concerns of water quality in the greater Newburgh area. The representative stated that tests have been conducted in the Cornwall area starting with Beaver Dam Lake and continued to the Moodna stream, and tests will be conducted on the Village of Cornwall on Hudson water supply at the Taylor Road wells. These tests are being conducted as a precautionary measure to evaluate any possible adverse effects on water in the Cornwall area. Thus far, the tests have not indicated any issues of concern. The State Health Department will be generating a report within the next week for our information and a status update. The State Health Department is coordinating their efforts with the Orange County Health Department as well.

Residents visiting the Town of Cornwall’s parks, Riverlight Park and Laurel Crest Park, will see big changes this fall. Thanks to a significant grant made possible by Dr Pepper Snapple Group (NYSE: DPS) in collaboration with Keep America Beautiful, the Town’s beautiful and well-maintained parks will now promote a cleaner environment through our newly initiated public park recycling effort. The Recycling Bin Grant Program provides funding for 900 new recycling bins in public parks across the country in 2016, making recycling more accessible for Americans enjoying the outdoors.

The Dr Pepper Snapple Group/Keep America Beautiful Park Recycling Bins will be used at both parks to collect recyclable beverage containers, such as glass bottles, aluminum and metal cans, and plastic bottles and cups. “The bins will make recycling convenient and easier for residents and visitors using our parks,” said Town of Cornwall Supervisor Richard Randazzo. See attached link.
