Hydrant flushing throughout the Town of New Windsor and on Stewart Properties and Firthcliffe Heights area of Cornwall will begin on September 28, 2020 and continue through October 16, 2020.  Residents and businesses may experience low pressure and/or discolored water when flushing is being done in the area.  Please direct any questions or concerns to Scott VanDyke @ 845-561-2550.

The Highway and Sanitation Departments will be closed for the Holiday, Monday, September 7, 2020.  There will be no trash pickup that day, town wide.  District 2 will only have one trash pickup that week on Thursday, September 10, 2020.  District 1, Monday’s co-mingling/recycling will have to be held until the following week, Monday, September 14, 2020.

The NYS DOT has advised starting 8/10 until 8/21, Monday thru Friday, Quaker Ave beneath Rte. 9W will be closed overnight (8pm to 6am) for demolition of the northbound side of the 9W bridge.  Detour signs are in place.  Traffic will detour by turning around at Angola Rd or Willow Ave depending on direction.

The Town Board of the Town of Cornwall has determined that it is appropriate and in the public interest to enact a local law to amend provisions of Town Code 143 in accordance with the recommendation of the Town Highway Superintendent and Chief of Police.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Cornwall will hold a public hearing on the 10th day of August, 2020, at 7:00 o'clock p.m., at Town Hall, 183 Main Street, Cornwall, New York, on a proposed Local Law of the Year 2020 entitled:  A Local Law to amend the Town Code by enacting a new Chapter 121A, entitled "Prohibition of Illicit Discharges, Activities and Connection to Separate Storm Sewer System".

The purpose of this Local Law is to promote the public health, safety and welfare by amending the Town Code to enact a new Chapter 121A entitled "Prohibition of Illicit Discharges, Activities and Connection to Separate Storm Sewer System" which shall regulate construction and post construction sites as well as prohibit illicit discharges to the Town owned system in compliance with the NYSDEC MS4 regulations.

This is a reminder the Town of Cornwall does have a Short Term Rental Law that requires property owners to register their property through the town building department if you allow short term rentals of your property. Recent complaints from neighbors have led to violations being issued on property owners for failure to comply with the Law. The town will pursue action against property owners who fail to comply with the Short Term Rental Law.   We encourage you to contact the building department for information by calling 845-534-9429 to obtain information on the Short Term Rental Law.
