The Building Department administers and enforces the New York State Building Code, the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Cornwall, and the code of the Town of Cornwall.
The Building Department is responsible for issuing building permits, conducting construction inspections, and investigating complaints.

- Field inspections are conducted between the hours of 9am - 12pm
- Bonafide complaints must be signed and submitted in writing.
The Building Department is responsible for conducting annual fire safety inspections of all non-residential and commercial properties within the Town.
- Fire Inspections are conducted between the hours of of 9am - 12pm.
