Welcome to the Town Historian

History of Cornwall - 4th of July

This is a 2024 digitized restoration of the 16mm Dorfman family movies filmed by Dr. David L. Dorfman, who, with this wife, Mrs. Dolce Stern Dorfman, started Cornwall's annual Independence Day celebration in 1950.

It has been shared with the Town Historian for our archives and the enhancement of our mission by their daughter, Dr. Sally Faith Dorfman (aka Mrs. Steven G. Sirota), who retains all rights and ownership.

More information about the history of the 4th of July in Cornwall can be found on the Cornwall Independence Day Committee's website: cornwall4th.org/about-us
